  • How to properly take care of the vagina 101 – Akua Davies

How to properly take care of the vagina 101 – Akua Davies

Sex coach and relationship specialist, Akua Davies, has given women what they did to do to ensure that their private parts are clean and especially the vagina is well taken care of.

In an interview with eTV Ghana, Akua said water is the perfect cleanser of the vagina and the water used must be in much quantity to wash all the dirt and keep the area spick and span.

“A lot of people say then when washing, just use the water to wash the surface but you realize that when women get infections, there is some white cheese-like substance that comes out of the vagina so when you’re washing, you can put your finger in there and wash it out with the water”, she said.

Akua Davies advised women not to use the same towel for their body and their private parts and must make it a point not to put on their underwear right after taking their bath.

“After bathing, don’t be in a hurry to wear your panty. Sit on your bed, look for a clean towel, open your legs to an angle and clean your vaginal area and between your thighs. You should have about two towels; one for your whole body and one for your genital area.

Those of you who wear beads, know that the thread in the beads soaks water so use the towel to clean the beads as well. Those of you who also like to keep the place bushy, if you don’t clean it well and leave water soaked in it, it’s like a water-logged area so when the vaginal area catches heat, it could cause the place to smell. Also, when the water that has been soaked up in the pubic hair drips into the vagina, it could cause infections”, Akosua educated.

Additionally, Akua Davies advised women to change their panties regularly and dry them in the sun after washing. Also, women must take their bath well and ensure that sanitary pads are changed regularly during that period of the month.

“Some women wear one pad from the house to work, urinate and wear that pad again, forgetting that all the discharge from the vagina goes into the pad which still has direct contact with the vagina so take about three pads. Around brunch time, you change, wrap it nicely and put it in your bag and dump it appropriately when you get home. Be sure to change at least two to three times before you go home, bath and change again”.

In a nutshell, Akosua Davies advised that women should trim or shave their vaginal hairs regularly so as to keep dirt particles from getting stuck in it. For women who like to keep it bushy, she stated that they should nicely trim the hairs around the clitoris and the vaginal opening to allow air to pass around the place freely.

Per her knowledge, following all these tips help to keep a woman’s vagina clean at all times and safe from bacteria and recurring infections.

  • Double-track system is a leapfrogging concept – Adutwum

Double-track system is a leapfrogging concept – Adutwum

Ghana’s double-track system being implemented at the senior high schools is a “leapfrogging” concept, Deputy Minister of Information Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has said.

It was introduced by the government to absorb the spike in enrolment following the implementation of the free SHS programme in 2017.

So far, 1.2 million students, according to the government, have benefitted from the free SHS programme.

Though the stopgap double-track system has been widely criticised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) with its flagbearer, former President John Mahama, indicating that he will scrap that aspect of the free SHS policy should he win the 2020 polls, Dr Adutwum told Kwabena Prah Jr on Accra100.5FM’s morning show, Ghana Yensom, that the double-track system “is a leapfrogging concept, so, instead of taking 50 years to put up school infrastructure to accommodate the influx of students, we’re using that to circumnavigate the infrastructure hurdles”.

“We can’t wait for 126 years” before doing so, he noted.

According to him, “if our generation wants to transform this country, we need to rush but with a mindset of not forgetting about quality”.

“So, you don’t just rush but look for leapfrogging strategies”, he added.

Dr Adutwum said the government is adopting innovative strategies to ensure that Ghana catches up with the rest of the world as far as human resource and development are concerned.

“We’re in a hurry because time has run out on you”, he said.

“Ghana’s peers, in terms of nationhood and independence, are now into manufacturing aeroplanes and other things but the painful thing is that they are not any smarter than us except that they have the mindset that everything is possible”, he pointed out.

The deputy minister also said the government intends incorporating virtual laboratories into the education system, so, as to expose students to a whole raft of things in the science realm which they cannot have physical access to at the moment due to financial constraints.

BECE food: No headteacher has complained of poor quality – Gender Minister

No headteacher in any of the schools in which pupils are sitting for their Basic Education Examination Certificate (BECE) has complained about the quality of food being served their pupils, the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Protection, Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison has said.

“So far, no headmaster has called me to complain about the quality of food being served the pupils”, she told Kwabena Prah Jr on Accra100.5FM’s morning show Ghana Yensom on Wednesday, 26 August 2020.

Social media has been awash with pictures and videos of some pupils complaining about the poor quality of the food served them.

While some said it was bland, others claimed was salty.

However, the minister told Prah Jr that: “If you send me a picture of the food they claim is not tasty, I can’t verify from it”.

According to her, “I can only rely on the headmaster’s report but what is circulating on social media could be mischief”.

She admitted seeing one video on social in which some identifiable pupils in the Ashanti Region were complaining about the food and promised to follow up on that immediately.

The minister, however, pointed out that there are some other videos in which the pupils cannot be identified, “so, it could be mischief, it could be true”.

She also said: “If we are cooking for pupils across the whole country and only two or three places are complaining, then it means things are going on very well in the majority of the schools”.

During his 15th COVID-19 address to the nation on Sunday, 16 August 2020, President Nana Akufo-Addo directed the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Protection to give each of the 584,000 BECE candidates a hot meal a day.

He said: “As a result of reports I have recently received that some final-year JHS students were going hungry, in complying with COVID-19 protocols, I have just instructed the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Protection to begin preparations to ensure that from 24th August up to 18th September, all five hundred and eighty-four thousand (584,000) final-year JHS students, and one hundred and forty-six thousand (146,000) staff, both in public and private schools, be given one hot meal a day”, the President said.

“This is to ensure full observance of the COVID-19 safety protocols”, he explained.

  • NDC can’t be trusted with Free SHS, they’ll collapse it – Bawumia

NDC can’t be trusted with Free SHS, they’ll collapse it – Bawumia

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) cannot be trusted with the popular Free Senior High School policy introduced by the NPP.

In an exclusive interview Peace FM with Kwame Sefa Kayi on Tuesday, Dr Bawumia said the NDC, considering their past vehement opposition to the Free SHS policy, lacks credibility to continue with it because they do not even understand the concept.

“The credibility and sincerity of the NDC with Free SHS cannot be trusted,” Dr Bawumia said.

“They didn’t believe in it in the first place but we have successfully implemented it. Now they keep giving different versions of what they want to do” the Vice President added.

The Vice President added that the NDC’s continuous shifting of positions on Free SHS portrays their lack of understanding of the policy, as well as the risk of the program collapsing under their watch.

“They say they will review it and it doesn’t make sense to me. They can’t handle it but they will say anything that they need to say just to win an election.”

Dr. Bawumia said the NDC, having performed abysmally in all sectors, and led to their exit from office in 2016, cannot be trusted.

He said the country will retrogress and all the positive gains made by the Akufo-Addo government in critical sectors such as education, economy, agriculture, industrialisation, etc. will be eroded.

“If you look at what we have done, we have achieved so much in education, agriculture, infrastructure, industrialisation, etc in just three and half years.”

“I don’t see any sector where the NDC has performed better than us.”

The Vice President added that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government is bent on consolidating its gains made in the first term, hence their comprehensive manifesto, which accounts to the people on the promises made and achieved, consolidates the progress made, as well as provides a comprehensive vision into the future.

“If you make a change, you will see an unwinding of the progress. We cannot risk our progress so we are protecting our gains.”

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE VARIOUS REMOTE DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM OPTIONS PROVIDED BY THE GOVERNMENT, STUDENTS TOLD

LEARNING. Recent times have seen increasing attention paid to the covid-19 pandemic which is claiming millions of lives worldwide. One might at the spare of the moment be tempted to conclude that, the world seems to be cursed in skin terms- though this may generally not be the case.

However, in the intervening period , our government through the ministry of education has constituted somewhat technological and productive programs of getting our basic and secondary school students continue with their teaching and learning activities while at home .

The programs which will kick start tomorrow ( may God be our Helper) would be carried out via different media as Radio Broadcast, TV Broadcast and Online E Learning Platform.

    FOR MORE NEWS

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE VARIOUS REMOTE DISTANCE LEARNING

The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC) is set to begin a TV program dedicated to airing education contents from Basic to Secondary schools.

Besides, the good news is that, GES has come out with Ghana Learning TV (GL TV) which is free to air with the same purpose. So rescan your digital box to tune in. It’s in test transmission. It will appear next to GTV channels after rescanning.

This Ghana Learning TV, will initially broadcast educational materials for senior high school (SHS) students, while content for the Junior High School (JHS ) and basic school students follow in due course.

The GES in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications is finalising discussions with the GBC for a dedicated nationwide broadcast on radio.

Facts have it that, whatever “is going to be broadcast on the television is also made available on radio for a wider reach to the students who may not have access to television”, the minister stated.

    Online Platform
Touching on the online version, the ministry and the Centre for Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) has created an online study platform for all SHS students via the icampusgh.com, which is already in use and twenty-two thousand(22,000) plus students have already logged-on to the website already in full anticipation of a start.

To access the site, students would be required to enter their BECE Index Number as the Username and add the year they took the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to make it 12 digits.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE VARIOUS REMOTE DISTANCE LEARNING

“For instance, SHS Three students will be required to add 17 to the index number E.g. 309074025 then 17 to read 30907402517, SHS Two students will add 18 and SHS one students will add 19”, the minister puts it simply and we’ll. Students would be required to enter “ghana@12345” as their default password and click on log-in.

You would also be required to change the password to your own password before continuing which would be use to log in another time.

Students will have to click on ‘view all courses’ to see the subjects available,”. click on any of the courses available to enrol.

    Parallel Online Learning System
In Addition to the iCampus platform, there’s an online parallel learning system to ensure that eventually, every class in this country from the lower primary to the SHS has an online parallel classroom.

Parents and guardians are hereby admonished to encourage, assist, support and supervise their wards in this regard to make this a success. Government can’t do it alone.

It is quite unfortunate that many students in the rural areas and those in the cities and towns but without mobile phones, computers, Internet connectivity wouldn’t benefit.

In the light of this , I’m calling on Government, stakeholders and opinion leaders to find means to include them. Failure to do that, their classmates will definitely be ahead of them. We must ensure equity in education here.Students who have access are also advised to take the lessons seriously and make the best out of it.

I have learned from Geoffrey Holder, my famous educationist that , “Education begins at home. You can’t blame the school for not putting into your child what you don’t put into him

  • PROFANITY IN MUSIC INDUSTRY IN GHANA

There is a very high record of profanity in the music industry of Ghana in our current dispensation.

Profanity is something that is not related to sacred or religious things. Ghana is well known for its cultural and traditional values and has been commended by many other countries in the past years.

The high sudden turn from commended cultural values into profanity has defaced the good name of our motherland  Ghana most especially in the music industry.

These ladies are exposing themselves to the extreme.

Speaking to some Ghanaians on the 17th December 2019, they have lamented that both the ministry of gender, female and children protection and the music industry should make a law against profanity and anyone who falls for such law should be severely punished.
