So You People No Dey Care About COVID Anymore? – Joey B Quizzes

The breakdown in the adherence to the measures put in place to curtail the spread of COVID-19 has pushed Joey B to question why Ghanaians are no more concerned about the ramification of their actions.

In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, every Tom, Dick and Harry was advised to put on face coverings, sanitize their hands and surfaces, observe social distancing and be far away from public gatherings.

Infact, a lockdown was imposed to compel many to be indoors as they peeped through their windows with anxiety to see Coronavirus walk past their doorposts with no one around to sting.

All these measures were influneced by cautuion, science and data but in other instances influenced by fear, apprehension and timidity. However, as the cases reduce and the infection rate subside, many believe it is time to go out and assume life is back to normal.

Following that, Darryl Paa Kwesi Bannerman-Martin aka Joey B has expressed concern and is asking Ghanaians why they have decided, now, not to comply with the COVID-induced precautions.

“ah you people no dey care about covid again eh?” he tweeted.

There has always been the argument of why Nigerian music and artistes do so well than Ghanaian artistes and music. In these conversations, mostly people put the blame on the numbers but according to the comedian this is not true because Jamaica don’t have numbers but have their songs every where.

According to Pararan, he has been monitoring the news coming in from Ghana and he has realized they are mostly about quarrels, and mentioning Papa No and Mzbel.

He said when artistes come for interviews, presenters turn to ask them questions that will make them say negative things so they post on social media which is not helping.

He went ahead to give examples on how Nigerians are currently promoting the albums of their artistes, like Burna Boy, Fire Boy and others saying the quarrels being promoted is too much and it should be reduced and used to promote our artistes instead.

  • Govt to use Pozzolana, local bricks for infrastructure projects to cut $1bn/year imports

Govt to use Pozzolana, local bricks for infrastructure projects to cut $1bn/year imports

The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government has said it will prioritise the use of Pozzolana cement as part of efforts to use more local content in developing the country’s infrastructure.

According to the governing New Patriotic Party’s newly-launched 2020 manifesto, such local materials would be used more in the government’s “significant investments in public infrastructure development” which covers roads, schools, hospitals, clinics, office buildings among others.

The document said: “Most of our roads are constructed with asphalt overlay or with bitumen surface dressing (BSD), and most public buildings are constructed with cement and concrete materials”, adding: “90% of the raw materials for producing these two primary products are, however, imported, costing the country more than $1 billion annually”.

On the other hand, the document noted, “we have demonstrated the availability and durability of local building materials, including burnt bricks and Pozzolana cement”.

“Several brick factories can be found in the Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono and Central regions”.

“We also have two Pozzolana cement factories in Ghana”.

“Over the next four years, we will actively mainstream the use of these, and other local materials in public sector infrastructure projects”, it noted.

Below is the party’s plan for infrastructure development for the next four years:

Elvis Opoku reveals he is yet to hold contract renewal talks with Aduana Stars

Aduana Stars midfield gem, Elvis Opoku has revealed that he is yet to open contract extension talks with the club, despite three months left on his current deal.

The 27-year old who is an integral member of the ‘Ogya Boys’ believes the outbreak of COVID-19 might have stalled the club’s decision over his future.

But he hopes a decision could soon be made as he sorts out his future.

“I have about three months left on my contract with Aduana. They [Aduana Stars] have not had any discussion with me to extend the contract. It may be due to the Coronavirus or they are still preparing something,” he told Hello FM.

“It could also be that my services are not needed,” he added.

“You know, our system here isn’t like the Europeans who sometimes discusses extensions when the player has one year or more years left. So, maybe they’re waiting to hold talks with me when I am left with a month. It all depends on them.”

The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic with the future of a new campaign uncertain.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association have proposed the second week of October as the likely return date for football, but that will be subjected to government approval.

Elmina Sharks skipper Daniel Obeng Crentsil, has said that they’ve missed playing football but they can not risk their lives amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

There has been no football in the country since the suspension of sporting activities in March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Ghana Football Association is yet to outline its plans on how football can return safely, but the GFA would prefer to restart football in October.

According to Crenstil, adequate measures must be put in place before any consideration to resume football.

“We’ve missed football because it is part of our lives. This is where we mostly derive our joy from when playing but now it’s no more,” he told GNA Sports.

“It’s very frustrating not playing since March. This is the career we’ve chosen and feed our families from. We get bonuses when we’re playing but now it’s no more because of COVID.”

“However our safety is of much concern to us. We can’t risk our lives to play football when measures are not put in place. Adequate measures must be put in place before we restart Football in the country.”

The midfielder joined Sharks in April this year and has previously played for WAFA and New Edubiase.
