    GOVERNMENT SHOULD HEAR OUR CRY-RICE FARMERS

    Farmers who cultivate rice farm at Akyem Akenkanoh in the Denkyembuor district of Eastern region are calling on the government lead by Prez NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Seth Biri-Krang to come to their aid in terms of farm machinery and other chemicals to facilitate them to produce more rice for the country.

    Speaking to some of the rice farmers in the community, they lamented that, they were provided with some materials some years ago to prevent birds from eating the grains but they were seen as toy materials to the birds which didn’t be of any help to them.

    Refuse pulled up at sefwi Dwenase

    Following the withdrawal of services by workers of the waste management company, Zoomlion at sefwi waiwso in the western region, Heaps of refuse have started piling up at Sefwi Dwenase in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region, thoughts seem the workers of Waste Management firm, Zoomlion Ltd at sefwi waiwso in the western region have embarked on strike over salary arrears.

    The strike action started 14th August 2019 at sefwi waiwso in the western region and yet there have been no other means of collecting the waste.

    Biodegradable waste from markets and stores have been deposited along the streets hence unleashing bad odor-causing air pollution in the environment.

    Residents at sefwi waiwso in the western region fear the strike may lead to the outbreak of diseases due to the heavy downpours the Municipality is experiencing this season which influences the rate of waste generation.

    OTUMFOUR OSEI TUTU SWORN IN A NEW CHIEF

    Is almost two years ago since barekese township in the atwima nwabiagya district in the Ashanti Region has operated without rulership. Since their king, NANA AKOWUA II  departed the ascension of the thrown became a race.

    To the excitement of the residents of barekese and the kingmakers, on  Thursday evening the 15th August 2019, the king of the Ashanti Kingdom Otumfour Osei tutu II sworn in a new chief for barekese township with the title  NANA AMOAPIM BRENYA  to take the mandatory and full the town.

    Berekese is one of the town’s that supply the Ashanti Region with water.

    Speaking to the media all residents and kingmakers seen to be glad to have a new chief since the stool have been left for long.

  • WORK ON TAMALE AIRPORT PHASE II BEGINS AS PREZ CUT SOD

    As part of the six-day tour of the President in the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West Regions. The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the beginning of work for the construction of phase II of the Tamale Airport.  which is estimated to cost $70m and financed by a United Kingdom export finance facility.

    Addressing a gathering of chiefs and people at the sod-cutting ceremony, the president said persons whose property have been affected as a result of the project, have been duly compensated.

    As a result, he expects the project to be completed on the 30-month schedule to avoid cost overrun.

    The President further urged the Ghana Airports Company Limited and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, to protect the property on which the airport sits from encroachment.

    Present at the ceremony was the Minister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda.

    According to him the phase II of the Tamale Airport is part of Governments efforts to make Ghana an aviation hub of West Africa. It is also to position Ghana as a preferred destination of choice for travelers.

    This project, he pointed out, is one of many other improvements which the NPP government led by President Akufo- Addo, is introducing to improve the aviation sector.

    PDS SAGA: WE WILL DEMONSTRATE AGAINST PDS – MR MENSAH THOMPSON

    Officials of the  Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability-ASEPA in collaboration with several Civil Society Organisation had made a pronouncement to take a  civil demonstration aimed at putting public pressure on Government to abrogate the ECG-PDS concession agreement with immediate effect and to transfer all assets, technical and financial operations back to ECG.

    Speaking on DFM morning show, the Executive Director ASEPA who doubles as  the Convenor, Drop PDS  Mr. Mensah Thompson    Said “we don’t understand why Government still allow PDS the take charge of the monitory aspect of ECG while they have been suspended”

    The demonstration will also call for the immediate step aside of the following officials…

    The Finance Minister

    The Energy Minister

    The Chairman of MiDA

    The Chairman of ECG Board

    The Managing Director of ECG and

    The Attorney General

    For before investigations commence.

       He stated that the proposed Date for the demonstration is Thursday 22nd August 2019 barring any circumstantial changes.

  • I WILL COMPLETE BOLGA-BAWKU ROAD BEFORE 2020 ELECTIONS – PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO

    The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has assured residents of the Upper East Region that the Bolgatanga to Bawku road will be completed before the 2020 elections.

    Addressing the Chiefs and people at Binaba, in the Zebilla constituency, in the Upper East Region,  President Akufo-Addo assured that his Government will ensure the completion of this road before the general election begins in 2020.

     He, thus, appealed for the support of the Ghanaian people for the programs and policies being implemented by his government, adding that “without your support, without unity amongst you, it will be very difficult for us to achieve our targets and our purposes. That is my appeal to you.”

    Flooding is a situation in which an area is covered with water, especially from rain.

    On Monday an hour-long rain has left a lot of places in the Ghanaian capital, Accra flooded.

    The heavy rains flooded the home of the presidential candidate of the All Progressive’s Party [APC] Hassan Ayariga at haatso.

    It indicated that the floods have caused damage to some of the luxury cars that were packed in the house of the controversial politician.

    The Tema West Municipal of Agriculture has received five motorbikes to facilitate its work, the motorbikes, numbering five, were funded by the Canadian government under the Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana Project, which forms part of efforts by the government to improve the agricultural sector.

    The chief Executive Maame Adwoa Amoako said the government was supporting the ministry of Agric to ensure the good work and also to national food security for the country

    Minister Of Lands And Natural Resources, Launches 2019 Oil PalmPlantation Project

    Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, is the minister of lands and natural resources, launched the 2019 oil palm plantation project.

    Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh launches the project at Dunkwa Offin of the Upper Denkyira East in the Central Region, he distributed over one million seedlings nursed to the farmers. And he said that it will help the illegal mining communities and continue to provide some to Ashanti, Eastern and Western Regions.

    He advises the youth to take advantage of the project, and appealed to traditional leaders to support them with their land.

    Mr. Sampson Kwaku Boafo the chairman of the minerals commission, assured mining communities to stop illegal mining.

    The heavy rainfall on 20 May 2019, Monday has flooded the newly built terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA). Most areas in Accra are also facing flooding issues when it rains.

    Besides the flooding issue which happened on Monday, May 20, water from chocked gutters were spilled unto the roads at Kwame Nkrumah Circle which left the passers no option but to walk through it. Some drivers managed to drive through the flood whiles other vehicles were also trapped in it.

    According to D FM reporter, the people around the area said comparing Monday’s downpour to past years said Monday’s rain is better and not heavier than what they saw years back.

    In an interview with Mr. Francis, he said today’s rain is a bit better as compared to two-three years back. I have been here for ten years now and I know what am talking about. It is normally like this, the big gutter, that leads to the Odaw has been filled to the brim with water. The government should fix the drainage system, the drainage is poor. The gutters around are chocked if it rains heavily, flooding is massive”.

    200-ACRES CULTIVATION OF AVOCADO PEAR PLANTATION, STARTED AT ABUAKWA UNDER THE AKUFFO-ADDO PROMISES, 1D1F

    A 200-acre avocado plantation is under cultivation in Abuakwa in the Eastern Region, the first phase of an agro-processing project under the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) program.

    On Monday, May 20, Okyehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, led top officers in the Agric-value chain to inaugurate the avocado cultivation and process project.

    Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto; National Coordinator of the 1D1F, Gifty Ohene-Konadu; CEO of the Middle Belt Development Authority, Joe Danquah among others were among those present.

    The construction of the factory, the second phase of the agro project, has started. The factory will have a processing capacity of six to eight tonnes per hour, according to the Chairman of Akuapem Gold, Albert Wilson
