GUTA replies Nigerian govt on trade harassment- president of GUTA, Dr. Joseph Obeng.

The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has said the Nigerian Union of Association Ghana (NUTAG) has over the months fed their government with lies pertaining engagements in retail businesses in Ghana.

According to the President of the Association, Dr Joseph Obeng, Ghana has never targeted any ECOWAS citizen who deals in goods and services produced in a member state.

It only enforces the laws to deal with people who operate illegally in the country, Dr Obeng stated.

“No particular country is a target in the enforcement of the law. However, it should be noted that Nigerians form about 80% of those who engage in the illegal retail trade.”

He explained that the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) law is only to “discourage dumping of goods from countries outside the ECOWAS community, so as to boost local production and better the lot for the local manufacturer as well as grow and develop our local economy.”

The Nigerian government has over the week said it can no longer tolerate the incessant harassment of its citizens in Ghana.
This comes after several shops engaged in retail businesses without the necessary documents were closed down by the Trades Ministry’s Inter-Ministerial Task force in Accra, Kumasi and Koforidua.
In Kumasi, over 90 shops suspected to be for Nigerians were closed down after the inspection by the Trades Task force. The Government of Ghana on the other hand has rejected the accusations made by Nigeria of intimidation and maltreatment of national in Ghana.

Don’t call me ‘Former Player’- Joseph Esso

Don’t call me ‘Former Player’ because i was not out of the league because I get the club (Hearts of Oak) at at heart all the time. My return will be very dramatic wit good energy. Last month, the winger revealed holding talks with some Ghana Premier League over a potential transfer. Hearts were reportedly among the clubs Razak was speaking with.

Further information, a lot has gone on in the terms negotiation between Hearts of Oak and I. I am a cool player with a lot of hopes, with a winning mentality and progressive addition to put the club on the map.

I am promising the club (Hearts of Oak) to forget about Joseph Esso because I’m back for good to fill the vacuum he left. Count on me as i will become the best player in the club no doubt because I did it at WAFU and Hearts of Oak as their key player.

Joseph Esso nears switch to new club after Hearts of Oak exits

Former Hearts of Oak attacker, Joseph Esso, is on the verge of completing a move to Dreams FC after parting ways with Hearts of Oak.

Esso, 24, officially parted ways with th Phobians on Wednesday evening after failing to renew his contract with the club in an emotional farewell.

The forward was expected to stay at the club after management recalled him but reports indicate that the club could not afford his demands.

Asante Kotoko was the next destination for the former Ebusua Dwarfs forward but he has decided to join Dreams FC ahead of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League football season.

Esso is convinced that the trades of Zuberu Sharani, Emmanuel Lomotey and former skipper Leonard Owusu makes Dreams a fine path for his career.

The transfer will be announced soon by the Still Believe lads.

Esso, played 14 games and netted on three occasions in the cancelled 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League.

He signed for Hearts from Ebusua Dwarfs in 2018 and was among Ghana’s best players at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal where he netted twice to help the side finish as runners-up.
