Defeat staring NDC in the face because NPP has delivered – Prof Dodoo

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA), Professor Alex Dodoo, has noted that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has delivered on its mandate over the past three-and-a-half years in office.

He said the party should be voted for in the December 7 elections in order to consolidate the gains made.

Prof Dodoo noted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s policies and programmes including the Free Senior High School, affect the lives of the ordinary Ghanaians in all parts of the country.

He said these while sharing his views on the violence that occurred between supporters of the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) within the Odododiodio Constituency last Sunday.

Prof Dodoo, an indigene of Odododiodio, said the NDC is now resorting to violence because they are fully aware of the defeat that is coming their way in the polls.

“It is very obvious that defeat is staring at the NDC and so they are resorting to violence,” he said.

“The work has been done by the NPP, considering the kind of programmes and interventions initiated by the government.

“We have the Free SHS and the other numerous interventions in place and so the work has been done,” he said on Accra-based Net 2 TV on Wednesday, 28th October.

  • Ododiodio clash: NPP, NDC peace walk was needless – NCCE

Ododiodio clash: NPP, NDC peace walk was needless – NCCE

Principal Civic Education officer at the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Madam Rebecca Colecraft has chastised sympathizers of National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party for engaging in a peace walk in the Odododiodio constituency.

According to her, there was no need for the two groups to hold a peace walk as the NCCE has already educated the public on the subject ahead of the 2020 December polls.

Speaking on ‘Behind the Headlines’ programme on Radio Univers 105.7FM, Madam Rebecca Colecraft said that if indeed attitudes have changed as a result of peace campaigns undertaken by the Commission, then the two groups had no business hitting the street in the name of a peace walk.

“I understand that it was a peace march. If so, in the first place, where the NCCE has educated our citizenry to, if attitudes have changed, we don’t need a peace walk because, already we understand that; “it is my responsibility, it is your responsibility to live with each other in harmony,” she said.

Madam Rebecca Colecraft is hopeful that violent situations, such as what happened in the Odododiodio constituency, does not happen again.

She disclosed that the NCCE has constituted Inter-Party Dialogue Committees (IPDCs) in the various districts and constituencies.

“We have established IPDCs in all districts and constituencies. The IPDC is simply the Inter-Party Committee and it is made up of all political parties within that constituency, the security, religious bodies, media, the traditional authority, opinion leaders”, she stated.

She also spoke on the function and aim of the IGPCs.

“The main objective of the IPGCs is to name and shame, and also, to bring any of the divides whosoever would use intemperate language, language of insult, would not focus on issues to bring them to book,” she affirmed.

  • NPP are Calling my Lawyers to abandon Me, So I will be Jailed- MP for Assin Cries Out

NPP are Calling my Lawyers to abandon Me, So I will be Jailed- MP for Assin Cries Out

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has opened up about his pending contempt case for the first time.

Speaking on the Wednesday, October 14, 2020, edition of the Seat Show on Net2 TV, the MP revealed that some members of his own political party have made calls to his lawyer, Kwame Gyan, impressing on him to leave him to his fate.

“All those calling my lawyer that I should be left alone to be jailed, the case is not over so I am not going to say anything about it. If you are not brave you won’t support the NPP because I have NPP members calling my lawyer to ask him why he won’t leave me so I get jailed,” he stated

Mr Agyapong however made reference to a quotation in the bible and said the criticisms and sabotage from people within his party is something that is expected.

“The bible says that any leader who is not criticized by some of his people means that he is not doing something right. So obviously you will get people who don’t like you,” he said.

Revealing why persons within his own political party will be after his head, the influential NPP member said it is because some people fear he may be nurturing a presidential ambition and mentioned that he is rather focused on growing his businesses, making more money and creating employment opportunities.

“They are saying I want to become president, me Kennedy Agyapong. Just give me work so I can make some cash and open industries. If you know the industries I am putting up, I want be president of Tema (industrial area) instead. Those who want to be president are there, just give me contracts, case closed. Stop the envy and asking that I be jailed, for contempt how long will I even be jailed for?” he questioned.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, verbally attacked a High Court Judge, Justice Amos Wuntah Wuni, on same Net2 TV for issuing an injunction against him in a land dispute.

The MP’s tirade on live TV went as far as him calling the judge a “fool” for which he has been asked by a high court to come and explain why he should not be punished for contempt.

In a related development, lawyers of the MP have won an argument at the Supreme Court which on Wednesday October 14, 2020 ordered Justice Wuntah Wuni to step aside from presiding over the MP’s contempt case.

  • “NPP Is Not A Very Serious Party” – Kennedy Agyapong Goes Haywire

“NPP Is Not A Very Serious Party” – Kennedy Agyapong Goes Haywire

Maverick politician Kennedy Agyapomg has launched a verbal attack on his party the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by describing it a political institution that lacks forceful clear-minded leadership.

In an interview on his television station Net2 TV, the Assin Central MP lamented over the lackadaisical attitude of leaders of the party who have given preferential treatment to some members who had prior to the party winning the election, ruled out their chances.

According to Kennedy Agyapog, until some individuals like Kofi Job who has been awarded Ashanti Regional road contracts are expunged from the party, he will deem the NPP as unserious.

The reason for his outburst stems from his displeasure at an award of a contract to one Kofi Job who used to denigrate the then-candidate Akufo-Addo and used very unpalatable words to describe his person. Kennedy Agyapong believes, if NPP were a very serious party, it wouldn’t entertain the presence of a sycophant like Kofi Job.

NPP is not a serious party that is why they can award contracts to Kofi Job. This man used to insult President Akufo-Addo and describe his mouth as too dysfunctional to contain a sip of milk.

Why should such a man be allowed in the party and even be given Ashanti Regional roads contract? I don’t think we are serious as a party.

  • NPP’s delivery tracker now ghost tracker – Ablakwa

NPP’s delivery tracker now ghost tracker – Ablakwa

The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has said persons seeking to occupy the office of President of the country must be willing to subject themselves to the scrutiny of the people for whom they will be working when voted into government.

The North Tongu MP has, therefore, called on Ghanaians to safeguard the purity of the country’s democracy.

This follows comments by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) suggesting that it is not interested in a presidential debate leading to the December polls.

In a post on Facebook, the opposition MP, who is also the Ranking Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, condemned the NPP for taking glory for projects that, according to him, they did not initiate during a recent town hall meeting addressed by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Ablakwa stated: “With every passing day, the NPP’s delivery tracker seems to be fast-gaining infamy as a ghost tracker.

“Many individuals, communities and reputable organisations have had to issue embarrassing disclaimers either exposing non-existent projects or protecting their ownership over projects they laboured to erect without any government support. Independent media fact-checks have revealed even more dodgy claims.”

Mr Ablakwa, therefore, urged Ghanaians to reflect on whether or not the governing NPP’s 2020 manifesto is a credible blueprint for providing solutions to the needs of the citizenry.

“Dr Bawumia’s uninspiring effort to convince Ghanaians they deserve more than the abysmal 14% our empirical and surgical scorecard returned on its 2016 manifesto implementation has totally collapsed like a pack of dominoes and further dented his tottering image.

“Beyond the damage to the credibility of the Akufo-Addo administration, we must reflect on the implications, particularly, for the NPP’s 2020 manifesto. With government officials finally conceding to a discredited database, the question is: how can the NPP’s 2020 manifesto be regarded as a credible blueprint for addressing the real needs and aspirations of Ghanaians? In much clearer terms – if your shady tracker lists roads, hospitals, bridges, AstroTurfs and schools which cannot be found anywhere, it is only logical to conclude that your manifesto proceeds on a dubious foundation and it is the people in the aforementioned communities who are bound to be shortchanged.”

He indicated that the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) manifesto which is scheduled to be launched on Monday, 31 August 2020, will provide hope to the citizenry having been tailored to suit the needs of the people.

“One can therefore immediately see the wisdom of the NDC leadership when they chose to embark on a people’s manifesto which our opponents ridiculed. Clearly, you cannot get it wrong when you go to the people and engage them directly on what constitutes their needs, hopes and aspirations. Certainly, the NDC is better positioned to present a far superior manifesto on Monday. A manifesto from the people and for the people as it ought to be.”

The North Tongu MP said he now understands why President Nana Akufo-Addo is shying away from debating John Mahama.

“It can now be understood why President Akufo-Addo is running away from a debate with former President John Mahama despite the latter’s passionate appeals. When your record is defined by ghost projects and blatant deception which has resulted in a gaping trust deficit, you will obviously not present yourself to the Bukom Boxing Arena, not because that is another JM legacy but more because you need to desperately avoid a TKO from Sumaila Ndewura Jakpa’s descendant.”

According to Mr Ablakwa, politicians seeking to occupy the highest office of the land should have no choice in deciding if they want to debate or not.

In his opinion, “We must all agree that no matter the excuse, no politician especially those seeking to occupy the highest office of the land should have a choice whether to debate or not. Employees cannot determine that they won’t agree to be interviewed and yet expect to be hired by employers who in this case are the masses of this country. No functioning democracy worth its salt allows those managing national resources and those seeking to superintend over same to escape scrutiny with such utter contempt.”

He added: “The Ghanaian people as employers must no longer be tolerant of conduct that undermines our democratic purity. We actually should be having multiple presidential debates not one.”

  • Nana Addo, NPP using the free hot meal to desperately campaign for votes – Apaak

Nana Addo, NPP using the free hot meal to desperately campaign for votes – Apaak

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has described the government’s free hot meal for final year Junior High Students (JHS) as a desperate move in the face of an impending defeat in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary polls.

The MP who is also a Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament says the move was an attempt to force the students to see posters of the NPP’s presidential candidate and also to shout four more years for Nana before given their hot meal.

Dr. Apaak added the government is only seeking to exploit the students for their selfish political interest.

SEE ALSO: NDC describes Bawumia’s 13 housing unit project in Sekondi as a scam

According to him, he has received several videos by some students on the free hot meal exposing the desperation of government.

In the said videos, mini posters of the president and a parliamentary candidate were embossed on the package that came with the food served.

The students were also seen expressing their displeasure about the quality of the food.

The students were also asked to shout “four more for Nana” before they were handed their food.

“Folks, such desperation is a clear sign that NADAA and his NPP government know they are heading for a massive defeat. Why would a government that claims to have done better than any other in the history of Ghana resort to such exploitation? It was the SHS students, it backfired, and now JHS students? Well, we now know that the real motive for the hot meal for JHS students is to force students to see posters or say 4 more for a failed President. Just watch the videos below. I’ve received several, but the two make the point!”

  • NPP promises 16 model SHSs in Zongo Communities

NPP promises 16 model SHSs in Zongo Communities

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised on behalf of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to build sixteen model Senior High Schools in the Zongo communities in all sixteen regions in Ghana.

This was among many promises that were made at the launch of the NPP Manifesto held on August 22, 2020, at the University of Cape Coast.

Dr. Bawumia said, “We want to make sure that we focus on education in the Zongo communities so we are building model Senior High Schools at the Zongo communities in each of the 16 regions so we will have 16 model Senior High Schools in Zongo communities”.

Zongo communities are among the most highly deprived communities in the country and prior to the 2016 elections, the NPP made a promise to address the problem with education, as well as look for a vehicle that will prioritize development in Zongos so as to move away from the rice and sugar tpe of development.

In three and a half years, the NPP government boasts of establishing a Ministry for Inner-city and Zongo development, and creating the Zongo Development Fund which is paving way for sustainable development in these communities.

Moving further on his promises, the Vice President noted that one of the areas that has not received enough attention from past governments is the area of special needs education hence, the NPP government, when given another chance to build this country, will focus more on this area and support organizations in the private sector who are also trying to help this cause.

“We are going to increase the resources and infrastructure for special needs education across the country”, he stated.

Still on the provision of infrastructure to better education, Dr. Bawumia observed that the field of legal education is also one that has limited infrastructure, thus, limits intake and in turn, causes a lot of frustration with many prospective lawyers who are unable to get in. He promised that the NPP government will also expand infrastructure in this field so as to increase access to professional legal education in the country.

  • NPP govt will make a National Equipment Leasing Policy

NPP govt will make a National Equipment Leasing Policy

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Running Mate of NPP flagbearer, announced this at the launch of its 2020 Manifesto in Cape Coast on Saturday.

The policy would save the government millions of Ghana cedis as it would offload the cost of maintenance of that equipment on a leasing company.

The Party also promised to establish a National Transport Sector Recapitalization Policy to enable commercial vehicle operators to exchange their old vehicles with new ones and pay the cost overtime.

This would breathe life into the local automobile manufacturing companies, get rid of rickety vehicles on the road as well as reduce the high incidence of road crashes.

The Manifesto was on the theme, “Leadership of Service, Protecting our Progress, Transforming Ghana for All” was held virtually, and streamed live on major media outlets and social media platforms across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Manifesto was segmented into three parts-accounting for our leadership, consolidating our gain and plan for accelerating growth.

The Manifesto is a social contract between the Party and the people. It outlines the programmes, policies and ideas it intends to implement should it wins power.

The event was attended by government officials, traditional rulers and party bigwigs, with President Akufo-Addo officially outdooring the document.

Vice President Bawumia added that the next NPP government would implement a National Rental Assistance Scheme with a seed fund of GHc100 million to enable gainfully employed Ghanaians rent decent apartments and pay it overtime.

Giving accounts of the Akufo-Addo led government’s three and half years in office, Dr Bawumia said it had fulfilled 80 per cent of its promises, with over 300 achievements.

The achievements, he said, cut across various sectors of the economy including many infrastructural development in the areas of roads, healthcare, agriculture, education and social interventions to ease the burden on the poor and vulnerable.

The next NPP government, Vice President Bawumia assured, would consolidate the gains made so far and focus on its industrialisation drive including one-district,one-factory, Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for Export and Rural Development, commence the Integrated Aluminum and Bauxite, Iron and Steel projects as well as expand other existing programmes.

The Dynamic Youth Movement Of Dormaa and Young Professional Group Of Dormaa (YPGD) on behalf of the good people of Dormaa traditional area and the entire Aduana clan wish to express our dismay on the unprovoked attacks and “naked” insults on Osegyefo oseadieyo Agyemang Badu (Aduana piesie), the paramount chief of the Dormaa traditional area.

John Boadu, the General Secretary of the ruling party is expected to be meticulous and well informed on issues of national interest before adventuring to pass pedestrian opinion which does not befit his position as the Chief Executive of the party in government.

As typical of the ruling government, arrogance and sheer display of power, Mr. Boadu, and his executives and government officials without cross checking the wise counsel of Osegyefo oseadieyo Dr. Agyemang Badu during a courtesy call on him by the Inter Party Resistance Against The Compilation Of New Register (IPRANR), jumped into the media landscape and started casting aspersions against the much respected king of the Aduana clan.

Such clear display of impudence by John Boadu and his cohorts will be faced the next time with fierce opposition with equal measure of disrespect.

It is worth noting that, because of John Boadu’s reckless comment, another member from the NPP, one Abronye, whose mouth is filled poisonous words had the audacity to speak his low mind and empty-like analysis on the wise counsel of the revered Paramount Chief.

We, are told that Abronye, is an LL. B holder struggling to find his path on the way forward for his legal education.

For the avoidance of doubt, Nana, has been a member of the bar and bench for over two decades, it is surprising therefore, that such people of low I.Q, just because of party politics could talk back at high level, respected and a learned High court Judge, who’s rise to such an influential place in society was not due to annexing some cheap political power in clandestine manner.

For the records Dormaahene at no point in expressing his views on the electoral commission’s attempt to compile a new register said he will ban the EC from exercising it’s constitutional mandate on his land.

Dormaahene did not make a vague opinion about the register but rather professed his traditional, constitutional and wise counsel on why he thinks compiling a new voters register at this period will not help promote the hard earned peace and stability as a country as required for concensus building.
