  • Bawumia lied on electricity extension in Bole District – MP

Bawumia lied on electricity extension in Bole District – MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole- Bamboi Constituency Alhaji Yusif Sulemana has said that it is not true that there is an “ongoing Extension of Electricity at Chibrinyoa in Bole District” of the Savannah Region as said by the Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Dr Dawumia made the assertion during his lecture last week to outdoor government’s infrastructure record and as well outdoor a website which captures government’s infrastructure projects across the country and their state of completion.

Speaking on the morning show of Bole based Nkilgi FM on 27th August,2020 the Bole MP said; “The Minister of Energy Mr John Peter Amewu in answering my question on the extension of electricity to Chibriyoa and its surrounding communities was categorical. He said no any ongoing electrification works at Chibriyoa. Dr. Bawumia now comes to tell us there is an ongoing electrification works at Chibriyoa and so it is another big lie”.

The MP for Bole-Bamboi Constituency said he has supported his comments on the issue with a video of proceedings on the floor of Ghana’s Parliament on 6th August, 2020 when the Minister of Energy was asked when the national electricity grid will be extended to Babato, Chibrinyoa Dugli, Bampewa, Agbadago and Tambang all in the Bole District.

The MP said the Minister answered the question and stated; “The communities

Babato, Chibrinyoa Dugli, Bampewa, Agbadago and Tambang do not form part of any of the ongoing projects currently being executed by the Ministry of Energy”.

According to the MP the Energy minister further said; the “Communities have been noted and would be considered in subsequent face of the electrification project.

Giving further details of the issue, the Bole MP said the electricification project at Chibriyoa and other communities on the Bamboi to Babato road started in 2007 by the NPP government under JA Kufour and was continued by the NDC government under John Evan Atta Mills and that the main lines were extended to as far as Babato which ends the communities on that stretch of road.

Alhaji Yusif Sulemana said for some reasons the contactor left site and some of the main poles got burnt and that the Contactor returned to site but wanted government to recost the project.

Alhaji Yusif said the MP he succeeded assisted with poles for the project to continue but the project was not completed when NDC left power.

“As the sitting MP I took it up, went to the ministry several times and was promised the work will be completed. It was at my last visit that I was told the ministry has no plans to complete the work. I decided to bring this to public notice henced asked the minister a question on the floor of parliament on when the project will be completed; the MP said on Nkilgi FM.

The Bole MP also said the answer of the Minister on 6th August, 2020 was emphatic that there is no any ongoing electrification works at Chibriyoa.

“Surprisingly, Dr. Bawumia two weeks later reported to the whole world that work was on going at Chibriyoa. I called the assemblyman to verify Dr. Bawumia’s claim and it turned out that no such work is on going”; Alhaji Yusif disclosed.

  • EC is overburdened, can’t regulate political parties – CHRAJ boss

EC is overburdened, can’t regulate political parties – CHRAJ boss

Commissioner for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Joseph Whittal, has said he backs suggestions that a new independent body should be established to take over the Electoral Commission’s role of regulating political parties.

According to Mr Whittal, the EC already has its hands full with conducting elections and referenda to take other roles like ensuring that political parties adhere to the rules on financial audits.

“The Electoral Commission is certainly overburdened with all public elections and referenda and so to add a regulator of political parties or as we call them ‘Registrar of Political Parties’, as we call them in other countries, I think it is an over-kill,” the CHRAJ Commissioner said at an event to launch the Citizens’ Anti-Corruption Manifesto in Accra.

Mr Whittal was responding to concerns that the EC has reneged on its mandate to audit the finances of political parties in Ghana, which some have said fuels corruption since there is no transparency in the financing of the parties.

The CHRAJ Commissioner said Ghana can adopt the system in other African countries where there is an independent Political Party Registrar responsible for ensuring registration of political parties granting certificates, going through their audits and their statement of accounts.

“If the evidence shows that the EC has not been able to activate that aspect of this law, we must be thinking of hacking it off and giving it to an independent body that can handle that aspect…and making sure that the outstanding issues of monitoring political party financing are addressed,” he stressed.

The citizens’ manifesto is a project that seeks to inform strategic policy direction for the political parties before they are elected into office.

The project is funded by STAR-Ghana Foundation with support from UKAid and European Union.

It is titled, “Making All Voices Count in the 2020 Anti-Corruption Agenda of Political Parties’ Manifestoes” and reveals, among other things that, citizens want legislative reforms to prioritise stronger sanctions against proceeds against criminal activity.

On the administrative fronts, citizens proposed that there should be an introduction of anti-corruption and integrity curricula in schools.

Give Akufo-Addo four more years to turn Ghana into ‘abrokyire’ – Minister

The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Hajia Alima Mahama has appealed to Ghanaians to give President Akufo-Addo four more years to transform Ghana into abroad.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, she said her claim that the Ministry has achieved 90% of their promises was no joke.

Taking her turn at the ‘Meet the Press’ series organised by the Information Ministry, yesterday [Wednesday, August 26, 2020], she disputed claims that the government has woefully failed at the local level.

Affirming her claims, the Minister indicated Ghanaians must re-elect President Akufo-Addo because he promised to firm up the operations of the District Assemblies and he has delivered on that and so, we must consolidate our gains and retain him.

”It is about leadership, it’s about transforming Ghana and that is what we have achieved. Give him four more years to do more so Ghana’s transformation will continue. Ghana can transform like abroad but its take good leadership for this to happen. We need leadership that can give direction, dedication, courage, commitment so that the transformation will continue.”

The Gambaga/Nalerigu MP further added that releases to the various assemblies from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) have sharply increased from ¢461 million in 2016 to ¢967 million in 2019 by the government.

She reiterated that the government has completed 23 projects left by the previous NDC administration and 4 of the 72 projects started by the NPP have also been completed.

According to her, plans are underway to reintroduce the processes for partisan activities to be allowed in district-level elections.

“I should have enjoying all ther goodies the big men in governemnt are currently having because of my contribution to the party which helped them win the elections in 2016

The NPP executives used to visit my church for spiritual assistanace but after they won the elections, they have decided to abandoned me and my role. I am now seen as an NDC member.”

  • Prophet Nigel Gaisie Drops Five Political Prophecies; Predicts A Win For Mahama In The December Polls

Prophet Nigel Gaisie Drops Five Political Prophecies; Predicts A Win For Mahama In The December Polls

Founder and leader of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has dropped five new political prophecies ahead of a very volatile election period in Ghana.

His prophecy also announces a win for Former President Mahama who is seeking a come back to the presidency.

In a Facebook post, Prophet Nigel Gaisie who has been in the news in recent times for all the wrong reasons said, amongst other things, there is a political plot to terminate his life because he has been deemed as a thorn in the flesh of the governing party.

Below Are The Five Prophecies Prophet Nigel Gaisie Put Forth:

    1. 1. I saw a SERIOUS ATTACK ON A VICE RUNNING MATE, let them PRAY
    2. 2. Ghana Will PROSPER, I SAW IT FROM 2021, MIDYEAR
    3. 3. I saw a hatched plan against my person and my church thus they will CRASH MY CAR AND KILL ME BECAUSE I HAVE BECOME TORN IN THEIR FLESH BUT BE ASSURED THE LORD SEETH ALL THINGS AHEAD OF THEM AND REVEALS IT TO HIS Servants.
    4. 4. I saw an attack on Burkina Faso
    5. 5. I sense a GREAT WIND BLOW ON THE NATION OF AMERICA

Prophet Nigel Gaisie is part of a crop of pastors who many describe as “politically-biased preachers who allow their affiliation to political parties to determine the angle of their so-called prophecies.”

Also, recent controversies surrounding the dealings of the pastor has eroded his reputation in the eyes of the public who believe there may be something up his sleeves. There has been a breakdown in the trust the people used to repose in him and others based on their conduct and attitude.

As the election period draws closer, prophecies upon prophecies would Ghanaians be bombarded with. Each preacher or prophet will claim he or she has heard from God concerning the outcome of the elections in a subtle bid to court the attention and admiration of the citizenry when these prophecies somehow materialize.
