  • I’m not interested in begging to return – Allotey Jacobs on NDC suspension.

I’m not interested in begging to return – Allotey Jacobs on NDC suspension.

Social Commentator and suspended member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs says he has no intention of pleading with executives of the party to rescind their decision.

    Suspension

A letter addressed to Allotey Jacobs and signed by the National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, said he was suspended for “persistent anti-party conduct”.

“The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress, acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, at its meeting held on Wednesday, the 6th day of May, 2020, has suspended you forthwith as a member of the party, pursuant to articles 46(1), 46(6) and 46(8) of the party’s constitution for your persistent anti-party conduct,” the letter indicated.

    Allotey not begging

On Friday’s edition of ‘Adekye Nsroma’ on UTV, host of the show, Yaa Konama asked the former Central Regional Chairman of the NDC if he will plead with the party to take him back in the spirit of reconciliation following the demise of the founder of his party.

However, Allotey Jacobs said he’s not ‘interested’ in pleading with executives of the party and that any form of reconciliation should come from the party.

“I’m not interested; they should decide among themselves. After all, politics is about you, yourself, and people. I am not going to fight for me to be brought back . . . the progress of this country is more important and speaking the truth will be the bane of my political campaign if in the future I should be on the political trail . . . “

“If there should be a spirit of reconciliation then it should come from NDC, not me . . . I think I have done enough for NDC especially in bringing Prof Mills (late) to power. There are a lot of things people don’t know and there are things that young boys in the party write and insult, but I don’t want to talk about it. It’s the same thing they did to former President Rawlings but he’s gone and may he rest in peace,” he lamented.

  • NDC Research Team Arrested In The Eastern Region

NDC Research Team Arrested In The Eastern Region

The current government has been branded by a section of Ghanaians including journalist for being intolerance. Accusations include the government aiming to win the upcoming December elections with violence.

The media including investigative journalist Manasseh Azure have in comparison confessed that they felt safe under the opposition government NDC than the current government the NPP.

Per observations and reports members of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), are arrested for little or no offense where as members of the governing NPP such as Hawa Koomson and Kennedy Agyapong walk freely for greater offenses.

The arrest of four persons conducting research for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region has heightened political tension in the area.

The four were arrested Saturday November 14, 2020 by armed Police officers led by the District Police Commander John Yeboah while in a community administering questionnaires.

They were, however, granted bail four hours after the intervention of the party executives.

Police also impounded motorbikes which they were using to move around.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Kwasi Lawer spokesperson for the Campaign team of the NDC in the Constituency questioned the basis for the arrest of their members conducting survey for the party.

    He said:

just as any other organizations like the media, students and the Civil Societies conduct surveys, we in the NDC also have that same right to conduct a survey and that was exactly what we were doing before the needless arrest by the police. We want to ask the police , when did conducting a research or a survey and campaigning become a crime in Ghana?

“The District Police Command who is said to be acting on the directives of the top NPP executives reluctantly granted our party faithfuls bail after several hours of being in police custody”

” the Police Command who is supposed to act professionally per the code of ethics of the service, has thrown the laws of the land to the dogs, forgetting that his allegiance is to the state and not the governing party”.

He said the NPP unleashed thugs on their party faithfuls during the voters registration exercise but the local police failed to act which has emboldened them to fester similar intimidation tactics going into the main election, therefore demanding, that Police come out with a roadmap to ensure peaceful election on December 7.

The Party, however, charged all members and sympathizers in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency “to remain vigilant and be security conscious due to what we have seen in Akatawia, when our opponents brought cutlasses to intimate us during the voter registration.

“We haven’t forgotten how some of our party faithfuls were unfairly transferred, some slapped and beaten at various polling stations by no less a person but the NPP MP Hon. Joseph Tetteh himself”.

The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Upper Manya Krobo, Bismark Tetteh said the NDC may be forced to retaliate the NPP if the Police cannot be a neutral arbiter .

“NPP thinks they can only win this election through violence. We are ready for them.We are for peace of course we know we are winning so we don’t have issues to fight people of we are winning then we must ensure that there is peace however we are also ready for whoever wants to bring violence to Upper Manya”

However , the Upper Manya Krobo NPP has been reacting to this development accusing the NDC of inciting the people under the guise of survey.

“Yesterday some of their youth went to the villages precisely Odumata and they went there to ask the people whether if they vote for Hon Joe T and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo won’t there be a war and the people asked them are you here to campaign and cause confusion indeed the area became chaotic.

“Police had the intelligence and went there so they brought the guys who disguised under conducting research to the police station to write their statement. I was there ,nobody detained them, NPP have no time to follow them with their fallacies” Philip Kwaku Mamphey a stalwart of the NPP in Upper Manya said.

The Upper Manya Krobo Constituency is one of the hottest areas in this year’s election as the NDC pushes hard to recapture its long occupied seat snatched in 2016 by the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament Joseph Tetteh who is seeking reelection.

The Asesewa District Police Commander John Yeboah was however unavailable to respond to allegations of bias levelled against him.

These allegations suggest that some authorities of the Police force are in with the current government as they intimidate members of the opposition NDC.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7. The EC has promised a fair, transparent and peaceful election.

  • It Is Time We Think Beyond NPP And NDC- CPP Running Mate

It Is Time We Think Beyond NPP And NDC- CPP Running Mate

Professor Emmanuel Yaovi Boboobi, running mate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) flagbearer, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, has urged Ghanaians to shift attention beyond the two major political parties to a third force for rapid development.

He expressed worry about the level of mismanagement exhibited by both the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, adding they only brought division among Ghanaians.

Professor Boboobi said this when he met leadership and supporters of the Party at Akatsi during a day’s tour to the Volta Region.

“It is time we look elsewhere, it is time we start thinking beyond the NDC and the NPP, It is time we reject parties built on structures that can only benefit a few, they have divided us, and in all these years of their rule, there has been no significant change in our well-being nor an improvement in the quality of our lives,” he said.

He said the next CPP government would restore hope and dignity to all Ghanaians, and that there would be job security, food stability, oneness, among others.

Professor Boboobi further said the CPP would prioritise agricultural activities reviving the collapsed factories built 63 years ago by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, founder of the CPP.

He promised a multi-trillion dollar agricultural sector industry since the CPP was poised to institute a research centre for effective growth in all their key sectors of development.

Mr Thomas Ntumy, the Volta Regional Chairman of the Party, asked the electorates to vote massively for the CPP, because things were going in the wrong direction of the country.

“A vote for the CPP is a vote for yourself, we are also Ghanaians, Ghana is not for only a few people to enjoy,” he explained.

Leadership of the Party during the visit, out-doored Mr Maxwell Atsah Nana, the Parliamentary candidate for Akatsi South on the ticket of the CPP.

Mr Atsah in his message to supporters of the Party, indicated “it is time we realise that “our challenges as a nation will not be addressed by NPP nor NDC, our struggle will continue to defeat us if we don’t liberate ourselves from this oppression”.

He urged all to promote peace during these period of campaign activities.

Other Party executives present include, Rashid Also, the Oti Regional Chairman, Musah Michael, Volta Regional Organiser, Mr Aaron Tetteh Agbenu, Volta Regional Secretary.

  • Rawlings’ Death: Zanetor Will Get Sympathy Votes – Ben Ephson

Rawlings’ Death: Zanetor Will Get Sympathy Votes – Ben Ephson

The death of former President Jerry Rawlings will be to the advantage of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Klottey Korle constituency of the Greater Accra region.

According to him, the daughter of the late President, Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, who is the Member of Parliament for the area, will get sympathy votes. The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is seeking to snatch the seat from the NDC in the December general election.

The NPP’s candidate, Prince Appiah Debrah, the party argued, has studied to show himself approved for the job.

The ruling party has intensified campaign in the constituency to unseat the NDC candidate.

But pollster Ben Ephson said the painful and sudden death of former President Rawlings will change the dynamics in the Klottey Korle constituency.

He explained that, given his influence in Ghana’s body politic and in that constituency in particular, “Zanetor will enjoy sympathy votes”.

“Rawlings has a sense of humour and I believe his daughter Zanetor will get sympathy votes,” he added.

However, Mr Ephson said the NDC, led by its presidential candidate, John Mahama, which is seeking re-election, might not benefit much from Mr Rawlings’ death.

NDC men have become very lazy and are not campaigning – Chairman Wontumi

December 7 is fast approaching and any serious political party in Ghana is trying so hard to get the attention of the masses, but the same thing cannot be said about NDC.

According to Chairman Wontumi, several executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly, the men have developed huge bums ahead of the 2020 polls.

Speaking on the Wontumi show, he noted that while executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party are busy campaigning, the others on the NDC side are relaxed and just growing fat.

“We are campaigning to grow lean and they are doing the same thing gaining weight meanwhile we are the people in power. The NDC’s Regional Chairman has grown weight, his cheek and bum have become extra big. It is clear when he eats, he goes to bed”, Chairman Wontumi.

  • You’re Not Joe Biden – Kabila Tells Mahama

You’re Not Joe Biden – Kabila Tells Mahama

Former Acting General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh has rubbished the political comparison of the US and Ghana elections by the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC).

Former Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden has been declared President-elect after days of voting by the electorates.

According to the provisional results, Joe Biden polled 290 to win the elections while Donald Trump polled 214 votes.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is of a firm belief that Joe Biden’s victory will translate into victory for the party’s Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

Their analogy is that whenever the Democrat Party wins the US elections, NDC also wins Ghana’s elections.

The party further argues that President Nana Akufo-Addo will be a one-time President just like Donald Trump.

Reacting to the issue, James Kwabena Bomfeh a.k.a Kabilla believes the NDC is deceiving themselves.

He asserted that the Biden-Trump analysis won’t work for the NDC and their Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama because the US elections have no correlation with the impending elections in Ghana.

“Joe Biden is not John Dramani Mahama. That’s number 1. [Number 2] Trump is not Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. [Number 3] Joe Biden was Vice President for eight solid years in America’s history; John Dramani Mahama was Vice President for three and half years. You can’t compare the two. [Number 5] Donald Trump did his best to introduce divisive policies; Akufo-Addo has brought a policy that’s become like manna for every Ghanaian,” he explained.

  • I Will Grant Amnesty To Jailed Small-Scale Miners- Mahama

I Will Grant Amnesty To Jailed Small-Scale Miners- Mahama

The Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, says when elected as President in the December 7, 2020 presidential election, he will grant general amnesty to all persons jailed for small-scale mining-related offences.

Many Ghanaian small-scale miners, popularly known as galamsey operators, are in prison custody after they were arrested by the government’s special anti-galamsey security taskforce and prosecuted for offences relating to small-scale mining.

Interacting with the chiefs and people of Abesewa in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency on Tuesday at the start of his five-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, Mr Mahama said his administration will give galamsey offenders a second chance to better their lives.

“Because of the fight against galamsey, some of the youth have been arrested. But with our new policy on small-scale mining when we come into power, we are going to start afresh. We know they have offended the law but I believe that these galamsey operators are remorseful so we will give them another chance”, he said.

Mr Mahama said, with careful planning, the mining sector could create about one million jobs for the youth, adding the next NDC government will take advantage of this and implement well planned policies to develop the mining sector.

He announced that when elected in the impending presidential election, the next Mahama government will introduce co-operative mining in all mining districts. As part of this, he said, mining professionals will be employed to provide guidance for small-scale mining operations, adding this will help to regulate the sector, improve safety and make land reclamation a central part of small-scale mining operations.

Mr Mahama said it is regrettable that the government has politicised small-scale mining by seizing mining concessions and equipment of operators, and throwing them out of business whilst at the same time allowing members of the governing party to engage in small-scale mining operations.

He said it is important that justice prevails in the small-scale mining sector so that all Ghanaians can reap the benefits of the sector, not just a few card-bearing members of the ruling party.

Mr Mahama therefore urged small-scale miners and their families to be guided accordingly and cast their ballot in his favour on December 7, 2020 to enable the next NDC government restore justice in the small-scale mining sector and for all Ghanaians to reap its benefits, not just a few card-bearing members of the governing party.

  • Sammy Gyamfi has challenged the governing NPP to retrieve all monies that were wrongfully paid to NDC members.

Sammy Gyamfi has challenged the governing NPP to retrieve all monies that were wrongfully paid to NDC members.

The Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has challenged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to retrieve all monies that were wrongfully paid to NDC members.

His comment follows an allegation by the MP for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer that the NDC during its tenure in power wrongfully paid Kofi Buckman and Associates, SAS Finance Group, Bullion Finance, and McQuary when preparing the Ghana Gold Transaction in 2011 before it was truncated.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story Tuesday, Sammy Gyamfi said the NPP has made it a mantra to accuse the NDC of being corrupt and having stolen from the public purse whilst in office.

However, the party is yet to come after any member of the NDC in a quest to retrieve such monies because they know the allegation is false.

“You see talk is cheap. They are in government now. If they think anybody violated the laws of this country and were paid monies that they were not supposed to be paid, let them retrieve it.

“That cannot be a justification for this naked robbery,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gyamfi is also asking President Akufo-Addo to retrieve the billions of cedis his government dishonestly paid under the controversial Agyapa deal in seven days or the country will witness the biggest demonstration ever.

According to the Communications Officer, monies were illegally paid to Databank, which is owned by the President’s cousin and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; African Legal Associates, which is owned by another cousin Gabby Otchere Darko; and their foreign compradors.”

This, he said, exhibits the nepotism that is being perpetrated by the Akufo-Addo government.
