  • 100% NPP MPS voted against my nomination in 1997 and 2014- Dr Ekow Spio Garbrah

100% NPP MPS voted against my nomination in 1997 and 2014- Dr Ekow Spio Garbrah

Member of the major opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Minister for Education and Trade and Industry, Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah has charged the minority caucus in Parliament to learn from his experiences before the House’s Appointments Committee.

This is a reaction to the rejection of some ministerial nominees of President Akufo Addo by Minority MPS of the Appointments Committee.

The Minority caucus had earlier rejected Minister Designate for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Minister Designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Minister Designate for Food and Agriculture, Owusu Akoto Afriyie.

However, Spio Garbrah reacting in a social media post revealed that in 1993, an Appointments committee made up of one eagle party member and the rest his party members managed to reject his nomination.

According to him, he was voted against even though the committee had zero NPP MPS.

Mr Garbrah again pointed out that a hundred percent New Patriotic Party ( NPP) MPS voted against his nomination in 1997 and 2014, respectively.

The politician believes that he had not committed any crimes neither was he incompetent to have been rejected and voted against.

He therefore cautioned the minority to understand better the group ( NPP) they are competing with.

” I hope the Minority caucus can learn from my experiences before the Parliamentary Vetting Committee. In 1997, there were Zero NPP MPS, but a Parliament of 1 Egle member and all the rest NDC members managed to reject my nomination.

In 1997, 100% of NPP MPS voted against my nomination. In 2014, 100% of NPP MPS voted against my nomination. Do you think is because I had committed any crimes or I was incompetent? The NDC should understand better the group they are competing with.” Part of Spio Garbrah’s post read.

Judicial Service’s statement, ill crafted and timed- GJA President, Affail Monney

The Ghana journalists Association ( GJA) has fiercely and fearlessly reacted to letter by judicial service requesting media houses to delete stories it describes as hateful and spiteful against justices of the Supreme Court.

The country’s judicial service had earlier issued a letter and statement ordering and requesting media houses to delete stories with hateful and spiteful words directed to the Apex Court’s justices.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, president of the Association, Mr Affail Monney described the service’s letter as an ill crafted, advised, timed and issued statement.

According to him, the statement by the judicial service if not reversed immidiately, can cause and provoke a tsunamic backlash, lower the dignity of the court in the eyes of freedom lovers and pollute the media environment.

Mr Monney believes that the threats by the service undermine the country’s media rankings globally and dim the beacon of it’s democracy.

” If not reversed immidiately, the ill advise, ill- timed, and ill architect, and ill crafted statement can cause and provoke a tsunamic backlash, lower the dignity of the court in the eyes of freedom lovers, and critical citizens, pollute the media environment, undermine our impressive media rankings and dim the of our democracy” He said.

The judiciary is not immune from criticisms- GJA President, Affail Monney

President of the Ghana Journalists Association ( GJA), Mr Alfred Monney has reacted to statement by the country’s judicial service, saying that it is not immune from criticisms.

According to him, in as much as the judiciary is not immune from criticism, it’s critiquing must not be done in a manner that brings the administration of justice into disrepute.

Mr Affail’s comments follow a statement by the Judicial service, threatening and requesting the media and journalists to delete stories from their domains that are hateful and spiteful against justices of the Supreme Court.

Speaking at a press conference held in Accra, the Association’s President held the view that the threats by the judicial service defy logic.

According to him, they are tantamount to an unwarranted assault on all the tenets of freedom of speech and freedom of the media as guaranteed by the country’s 1992 constitution.

” The GJA is plainly of the view that the threats by the judicial service defy logic and are tantamount to an unwarranted assault on freedom of speech and freedom of the media as guaranteed by the 1992 constitution” He said.

He therefore described the service’s statement as ill crafted, advised, architect and issued, demanding for it’s immidiate reversal.

Increase Rate Of Suicides, Homicide And Crimes In Ghana Needs Holistic Approach Through Mental Health Empowerment

Open Letter To Parliament And Government.

Suicide is the individual killing of oneself.
Homicide is the individual killing of another person .

Victims of suicide were predominantly males 85.92% with age range 10-86 years(1997-2019 ), and women most often the victims of Homicide .
Suicide by hanging 67.94% , the use of firearms 18.32% ,and self poisoning 8.93% were the common methods used by the victims.
Marital or relationships and family problems were commonly cited as the reasons for the commission of Suicides.( Online news Portals on suicides)

Globally, estimated one million people die of suicide every year; this translates to one death every 35 seconds . Many more attempt suicide and this often not disclosed ,as suicide is deemed criminal in some countries .
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among under 30 years old globally and occurs throughout the lifespan. Suicide accounted for 1.4% of all deaths worldwide.

Ghana suicide death rate is estimated at 1500 annually.
In the year 2020 and early weeks of 2021, there have been several news of individuals taking their lives . Most prominent among were some senior police officers and others.
People hanging themselves, women poisoning themselves and their children , gun shots at self and targeted shooting of people perceived to be homicides ,arm robbery and road accidents .

Suicide commission is usually attributed to social and psychological problems. Solitary living, extreme helplessness, hopelessness, and worthlessness,or defeat and failure, which may result from depressive psychopathology, are often linked to suicidal ideations and then to suicide.
Traumatic events ,such as the loss of close relation causes emotional distress and can lead to an ending inability to cope with the loss.
Financial or legal difficulties are another.
Social factors also triggers the suicidal and and homicidal tendencies.
Abuse of drugs lead to increased crimes.
Excessive thinking and stress lead some drivers causing suicide and homicide on the roads.

With the above detailed information on suicide and homicide and crimes. It is my suggestions and appeal to parliament, government to help establish Utramodern Psychological And Counselling Hospitals in Ghana that will make it more convenient for prominent and wealthy people to access mental health care without mingling with those people receiving treatments at the psychiatric Hospitals to at least curb the stigmatisation.

I believe, this will help reduce the suicidal ideations and homicides and then give Ghana a healthy nation full of healthy mental capacity in carrying out public and social tasks to boosting the economy and human resources.

The future is Mental Health Empowerment for a healthy nation , Ghana.
    Thanks.

Actress Juliet Ibrahim angrily blasts Ghanaians against LGBTQ+

According to the mother of one, in a lengthy Instagram post, all those against the LGBT community in Ghana are all “bunch of uneducated people”.

The actress believes that a lot of Ghanaians are only hating the group out of ignorance because they don’t know some of their family members living abroad and even politicians earn payments and salaries from bosses who belong to the LGBTQI community.

She further lashed out at critics of the group who are poor to concentrate on taking themselves out of poverty instead of exerting their energies on fighting and judging gays and lesbians.

However, a few minutes after making the post on social media, she quickly deleted the post due to the backlash from her followers, but the said post did not escape the sharp lense of Dikoder.com

It appears the LGBTQI community in Ghana has found favour with a number of celebrities.

Actress Juliet Ibrahim has become the latest to join Sister Derby, Bridget Otoo, Kwabena Kwabena and several others who are advocating for the rights of gays and lesbians in the country.

  • Update on COVID-19: Address to the Nation(Summary)

Update on COVID-19: Address to the Nation(Summary)

Coronavirus is still plaguing the world. Ghana hasn’t been spared the blushes of the virus with many cases reported since the first outbreak in March last year. Currently, Ghana has an active case of 5,480.

This is some improvement seeing that the country was getting to 8,000 active cases few weeks ago. New cases as at February 24 was 626 and the death toll at 599. In total Ghana has recorded about 83,212 cases.

The President Akufo-Addo tonight addressed the nation on the 24th update on measures taken against the spread Coronavirus. Below are some of the excepts of the address tonight.

Vaccines were promised to arrive in March but due to hard work the vaccines have come in earlier than expected. The AstraZeneca vaccines is tried and tested.

Twenty million Ghanaians will be vaccinated by the end of the year; persons most at risk, frontline workers and persons with health conditions. Group 2 will consist of security personnel, farmers, telecommunications services, Meteorological services, media, transport services, army etc. Group 3 consists of all persons above 18 years, except pregnant women. Group 4 include pregnant women and others above 18 of by then vaccines are available for them.

From March 2nd to 15th vaccinations will start in 43 districts across the hotspots.

The President assured the Ghanaian populace that the vaccine is not dangerous. He noted that the FDA have certified the use of the virus.

The President and his wife and the vice president and wife will tomorrow take the first shots of the vaccine. This will be followed by council of state members, prominent personnel, Asantehene, Ga Mantse, Speaker of Parliament will take the vaccine on Tuesday.

A committee has been set up to create and manufacture vaccines locally.

Currently Ghana’s active cases stand at 5,444 and 77, 972 recoveries. Death toll stands at 607.

  • LGBTQ Sexuality And Its Health Complications: Ghana Does Not Have The Financial Muscles For That ; Good President Announced He Would Not Grant Them Their Legalisation Nonsense

LGBTQ Sexuality And Its Health Complications: Ghana Does Not Have The Financial Muscles For That ; Good President Announced He Would Not Grant Them Their Legalisation Nonsense

To conclude with on this LGBTQ Sexuality abnormalities, I want to state further that Ghana has no financial strength to treating their health complications associated with the practices.
Already, the country is suffering to taking care of malaria death related to children under five 5 and other health issues in the country.

The LGBTQ comes with a lot of health complications. The acceptance and affirmation of the sexuality is not the promised antidote for the problems inherent in LGBTQ.

To reiterate, The Gay Lesbian Medical Association GLMA in Canada described the following detrimental effects associated with LGBTQ:.
High rate of HIV/AIDS, Substance Abuse eg alcohol, cocaine, marijuana etc, Depression/Anxiety, Hepatitis, certain cancers affecting the colon, eating disorders, Sexually Transmitted Illnesses eg Anal Papilloma/HPV, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia etc.

Also, Reduced Life Expectancy:- Dr J. Satinover documents that LGBTQ lose 25-30 years of their life span.

Data presented by U.S Centre For Diseases Control And Prevention ,2010, stipulated how LGBTQ gets HIV 44 times as compared to others with normal sexuality.

With the aforementioned high risks of health related complications in LGBTQ sexual practices, it is good we all stand against its Legalisation and activities in the country to save our fragile economy.

I still maintain that LGBTQ Sexuality is Mental illness and utramodern Psychiatric Hospitals be built to treating them with psychological needs .

To those promoting their activities and hiding behind human rights issues should be advised, because that is how the practitioners started

Those saying all sins are sins should seek education and know we have dimensions of sins and crimes hence God called some abominable sins, and the laws upgraded crimes:
Insult sin can’t be equated to murder sins, likewise stealing stealing phone crime can’t be equated to assassination crime.

Together, let us stand firm and defend our social and moral values.
The church should wake up and lead the way by preaching openly against LGBTQ without fear or favor of Visa and monies as in offertories and special find raising.

To the government, I pray the open condemnation by the president is not one of the usual talks we do hear from politicians and they then ignore their appointees behind the scenes to carrying out the same things they publicly condemned.

We are all watching the president and his government on that and anyone in his government who is seen promoting the human rights of these LGBTQ people should be punished by him and we will celebrate him for going by actions not plenty talks.

    God bless Ghana.

  • Government Should Consider Changing Single Sex Schools Into Both Sex Schools To Curbing LGBTQ Fast Rising Menace

Government Should Consider Changing Single Sex Schools Into Both Sex Schools To Curbing LGBTQ Fast Rising Menace

Government Should Consider Changing Single Sex Schools Into Both Sex Schools To Curbing LGBTQ Fast Rising Menace

Open Letter To Education Minister And Director of GES.

As we still deliberating on how best to reducing and orienting LGBTQ victims in our sociocultural settings, I consider the followings :

° That our single Sex Schools be gradually changed into mix schools ; that will help in full orientation of the young ones as they grow into late adolescent and adulthood.

° Psychological Counseling In All Schools ; this will encourage those with issues to that effect to seek redress taking into consideration their confidentiality won’t be broken.

° Empower Mental Health Authority to periodically give intensive Mental Health education in all the schools; this will give insight to the students to appreciating the problems and seeking for solution.

Information available suggested that the induction of LGBTQ victims has their basis from the single Sex Schools. When you take ten 10 victims, probability of eight 8 being introduced to this abominable act started from school or better still, the one who championing this evil course have their second cycle schools in single Sex Schools.

The affinity /attraction starts when same sex students jokingly plays with each others sexual parts and then move into actions. Those who boldly confirmed the disorder testified to that.

I therefore call on all the stakeholders from parliament, ministry of education, GES, PTA , government and like-minded NGOs to get involved in reducing this rising social disorder among our future leaders.

Our religions are against it, social and moral values against it too. It is time we go into action without fear or favor.
