Over millions of waste materials have been removed from the choking Odaw and the Korle Lagoon in Accra which is also part of the government plan to help reduce flooding in most of the cities.

Dredge Masters Limited workers and engineers have visited the two sites since February this year. The site has been turned to a repository of Accra’s waste which causes flood whenever it rains.

The President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo visited the sites on Tuesday to inspect the progress of the work done on the Odaw drains due to Monday rain which caused flooding in some part of the Accra.

Wiase Ametefe who is the Hydrological Engineer of Dredge Masters took the President around and showed him new designs by Dredge Masters to revamp the Odaw drain and the Korle Lagoon into a nice tourism site to attract tourists and boost business activities.

The President was impressed with the work done so far by the contractors of the project.

The work is being done day and night to restore the efficiency of the drainage to be able to contain the volume of water when it rains and this action will help reduce flooding.

The is being done in line with a two-year contract signed between the government and Dredge Masters in February 2019 for the maintenance of the Odaw drainage system and the Korle Lagoon.
