    U 23 AFCON qualifier: Black Meteors objective to upset Algeria

    Ghana’s Black Meteors are optimistic about overcoming their initial setback to beat Algeria away on Tuesday to qualify for the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) to be staged in Egypt in December.

    The Meteors must overcome an away goal advantage handed the Algerians after they held them to a 1-1 draw in the first leg clash in Accra last Friday.

    Meteors’ assistant coach, Michael Osei, is not oblivious of the difficult challenge confronting his side but maintains that they will do everything within their power to get a good result away to guarantee them qualification to the AFCON.

    “We are aware of how important the game is to Ghanaians and moreover to us. We will go and win there to qualify. They came with a mind to win in Ghana, so we will also go there with the same mentality. We are confident about ourselves and know with the right mentality we will win in Algeria,” Coach Osei added.

    nte Kotoko goalkeeper, Felix Annan has issued an apology to supporters after the 2019 President’s Cup was rained-off on Sunday.


    The much talked about super clash was cancelled after ten minutes of play due to the poor condition of the pitch at the Baba Yara Stadium. This was in fact, triggered by a heavy downpour. Sunday’s game was supposed to be a perfect test match and preparation for the Porcupines, who host Tunisian side, Etoile du Sahel in a CAF Champions League qualifier on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Speaking in an interviewed, Annan, who was in post, pleaded with spectators to forgive them adding that, they should be at stadium on Sunday to rally behind them to beat Etoile, to enhance their chances of making it to the group stage.


    First of all, I would love to send my apology on behalf of Kotoko and Hearts. We say to the fans that, we are sorry, even though it’s not our fault; it is nature but we appreciate their support” said the captain.

    The Bono East Regional secretary of the NDC, ALI MOHAMMED SHAMSUDEEN has blasted government for causing financial loss to the state after organizing a touted accounting to the people’s Town Hall meeting under the auspices of the ministry of information which he saw as a kyinkyinga party since officials who came to address issues of concern failed but only drunk, win and dance to the detriment of the taxpayers money.

      Speaking to DFM Politica morning show host Agyaba, he added that all 11  MMDCE’S came to displayed what they have done in their respective areas which was full of deceit because almost every project they said to have done was started and some even completed by the NDC government under former President Mahama, Ali Mohammed said government should apologize to Ghanaians for wasting their precious time yesterday by deceiving them with tackling issues of concern to all Ghanaian.

     To this end, SHAMSUDEEN has charged all Ghanaians to vote against Nana Addo and bring back the tried and tested Former president John Mahama.

    Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine – Tarkwa cuts sod for the construction of Six Unit Classroom Block at Awudau

    Methodist Primary School in the Prestea Huni Valley Students of Awudua municipality will in the next four months have a six-unit classroom block and an auxiliary facility in addition to their already existing structure to help improve teaching and learning in the school.

    The project which is being financed by Anglogold Ashanti is expected to begin this month and be ready in January.  The completion of the project will be a relief to students of the school as congestion in the existing classrooms will be reduced.

    Speaking to the media at the sod-cutting ceremony, the Acting Managing Director of Anglogold Ashanti, Mr. Stephen Asante Yammoh indicated that the management of the mining company had realized the need to provide the facility and are willing and ready to do so as part of their corporate social responsibilities.

    The Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality Hon. Mozart Kweku Owuh also praised the various corporate bodies in the municipality for their role in helping to provide the best educational facilities for students in the municipality.

    He indicated that Fedco a cocoa buying company and it’s Affiliate recently provided a six-unit classroom block and an auxiliary facility for the people of Atwereboanda and was delighted to hear of a similar project being carried out by AngloGold Ashanti – a move which he believes will go a long way to improve education in the municipality and Ghana as a whole.

    The Gyasehene of Apinto traditional area Nana Adarkwa also heaped praised on Anglogold Ashanti and indicated that the new facility will reduce congestion in the school.

    Fans of both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak expressed their displeasure at the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) for calling off the 2019 President Cup.

    The match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi was called off after 10 minutes of action due to the soggy nature of the pitch following a heavy downpour earlier in the day, which made ball control extremely difficult.

    According to the fans, the game shouldn’t have started, after hours of heavy rains, which made the pitch soaked and not conducive for football.

    The Founder And Leader for United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike believes the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have both done little in terms of fighting corruption while in office.

    “I will put both NPP and NDC in the same basket. None of them is doing better than others”, he observed when speaking to the media at his Press Conference.

    According to him, though it is his observation and not backed by evidence, from where he sits as a politician, both present and past governments are not doing enough to get rid of the corruption canker that has bedeviled the nation.

    He further explained the reason why both the two(2) leading parties in Ghana are all corrupt, they take money(bribe) before giving out an appointment, constructs, etc. So he, Odike is urging the entire nation to elect him as President in the 2020 general election of the Republic of Ghana, and he will fight against that corruption and make sure it is uprooted.

    Zimbabwe’s former president Robert Mugabe has died aged 95, the country’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa said on his official Twitter account.

    Mugabe died in Singapore, where he has often received medical treatment in recent years, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

    The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japanese institution imposed with consolidating Japan’s efforts in export and speculation promotion, has signed an MoU with the government to establish an office in Ghana.

    Ghana playing host to the largest number of Japanese businesses in West Africa, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JETRO, Nobuhiko Sasaki, stimulated that the establishment of the office will surely lead to the furtherance of the promotion of Japanese businesses in Ghana. 

    At the signing ceremony in Yokohama, on the sidelines of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development, Chairman Sasaki indicated that, in order to drive more Japanese companies into Ghana, “we would like to launch the office sometime in March next year.

    Ghana Post has announced to the general public that, although WAEC checker cards are available at its various offices nationwide, parents or students can now directly buy all WAEC e-vouchers by dialing *447*160# on their phones.

    This means students and parents do not have to visit any of the Ghana Post offices. With the penetration of smartphones and internet connectivity, businesses are increasingly adopting a mobile-first go to market strategy and the nation’s designated postal service operator is no exception.

    In a brief interview with the Chief Commercial Officer of Ghana Post, Jonathan Ansah, he indicated the company has recently leveraged technology to improve service delivery. A key feature of the GhPostpay App is the fact that parents who want to buy any of the West African Examination Council’s (WAEC) scratch cards, School placement checker, university forms or pay for their letterboxes do not need to go and queue in any of the facilitates,” he added

    According to Ghana Post, some of the branches that provide e-service are also on standby assist parents and wards in checking results. In the just-ended Ghana Shippers Awards 2019, Ghana Post was awarded Excellence in Innovation and Technology for showcasing smart new services which approach every day in new ways, enhance performances and spearhead that big change that no one even thought they needed until it was made.
