    POLICE ARRESTS 213 PEOPLE ON A SWOOP

    The Western Naval Command in a joint military-police operation around European Town and the Albert Busumtwi-Sam fishing Habour in Sekondi have arrested 213 suspects who had in their possession, substances believed to be Indian hemp, money, and condoms.

    ACP Edmund Ohene Bosompim who is the Deputy Western Regional Police Commander said the swoop is to improve the state of insecurity in the area.

    “There are cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, drug-related offenses. Such cases are not only worrisome but also create security concerns. As law enforcement agencies, we have the mandate to ensure that people within the region are well protected to be able to attend to their business and activities.

    “For this reason, this exercise was conducted. At the end of the exercise, the total number of suspects arrested were 213 made up of 194 males and 19 females. Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, toffees suspected to be laced with narcotic substances, alcoholic beverages suspected to be laced with narcotic substances.  TV sets,  laptops and two decoders and condoms.”

    In a related development, a joint Military and Police personnel have carried out an operation to rid the Budumburam Camp of criminals.

     According to Chairman of the Liberian community, Reverend Father Eddie Devine Henneys, says the exercise will help raid the Budumburam Camp of criminals.

    MAKE ARABIC LANGUAGE COMPULSORY -SHEIK HANUN HINTED.

    The National President of Muslim Mission Secretariat, Sheik Hanun Almad Apaw, has passionate appeal to the government led by Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the ministry of education led by Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and other authorities to make Arabic language compulsory in the basic schools as is been did to French language.

    According to him, government should let every student who will study Arabic language write an exams on it with their final years because over one thousand five hundred(1,500) Islamic schools across the country which they study language but the most painful accept is that our education ministry does not allow them to exercise their mind on their final years which is bad.

    Sheik Hanun further explain that, government and the ministry of education should allow the Islamic schools add Arabic language in their final year exams because is not a language of Muslims but rather a general language for the global world, but the most painful to him is that the ministry of education has been eliminating the Arabic language from the new curriculum . He there urging the government to make the Arabic language compulsory in the basic schools as is been did to Twi and French and others but should not eliminate it from the new curriculum.

    Kevin-Prince Boateng has expressed his regrets over some of the mistakes he committed which hampered his spell at Tottenham.

    The Ghana international after more than ten years following his unsuccessful career at Tottenham has opened up on some of the terrible mistakes, he made which had a toll on him in his early days in England.

    In an interview , Boateng said he didn’t take his career seriously enough as a young player, particularly while he was at Spurs.

    “I’ll go back and say: I didn’t treat football as a job. I was an idiot. I had talent, but I trained the bare minimum, an hour on the field. I was the last to arrive and the first to leave. I’ll be out with friends. I had money, I lived like a king. I’ve never been to the gym. That changes your later career,”he said.

    Boateng also explained that he wasted his time and money on extravagant lifestyle and even bought three cars in a day but they didn’t give him the happiness he was looking for during his days at Tottenham.

    The Chief Executive officer of TECHIMAN Tomato Factory in the Bono East Region said that it is almost ready for the production of a variety of Tomato paste for consumption and exportation which will create employment for over thousands of youth in the Bono East Region.

     In an interview with journalists in Techiman after taken them round to inspect the facility, Mr. Will A Ofori the CEO said there has been a study on pwalugu and Wenchi Tomato factories why they failed hence have put a strategy to curb any future misfortune but rather to make the company more viable and sustainable.

     Mr. Will Ofori has, therefore, urged the Government to as a matter of urgency to release the fund to the company to be able to start operation immediately. He concluded by urging all citizens to support the company to be able to succeed.

    After the installation, the Apesemakahene of the Mampong Traditional Council Nana Yirenkyi l speaking to the media indicated that two years ago he introduced the MP to the people of Mampong and he has since helped the community in the areas of employment.

    According to Apesemakahene, the installation was to be conducted for two politicians, Mr. Sammi Awuku the YEA Board chairman and Hon Titus Glover but, Sammi Awuku couldn’t make it due to some emergencies.

    He, however, noted that Sammi Awuku will be installed on a latter day as the  Apadwahene of Mampong. He said: “We believe they can help us develop Mampong Akwapim.”

    We the Concerned Drivers Association are calling on the government to increase transport fares by 30% following the recent increase in fuel prices.

    The latest hike in fuel prices is having a toll on our income hence the need for government to increase transport fares by 30% with immediate effect.

    We are being cheated, every time the prices of fuel go up but transport fares remain the same. How is the government expecting us to get our money to take care of our families? We want the GPRTU and the government to increase the fares to about 30 percent because currently we the drivers are at a lost.

    through the ministry of tourism in cooperation with Ghana Tourism Authority in training and sensitization for informal food and beverage sector which they can take good care of managing and making food safety for human consumption in our living environment.

    She said this is the year of return as his Excellency the president announce as this year’s role in making our country better, so with this, it is also their responsibility to educate traders in food management to be able to know the role of the food business to attract tourist in Ghana.

     Dr. Patricia said that food is very important to human life and so need to make it decent and manage well since cleanness is part of daily life activities. She said they are educating the traders to know the rules and regulations in food management to make Ghana best in Africa

    She said most food we eat outside homes and in towns, cities are sometimes not managed well and need to be decent and look good. she also encouraging all food traders to do the right thing and push Ghana forward. she said the food is good for human and must be protected, prevent and manage well and this will help Ghana to be one of the best tourism counties in Africa  and even the globe

    Alhaji Karim Gruzah, owner of division one side, KingFaisal FC, has rescinded his decision to contest for the Ghana Football Association ( GFA) presidential position.

    According to the astute football administrator, upon further consultation with his family and other personalities in the football industry he will not contest for the GFA topmost position, but he, however, indicated that he has an eye on being an executive council member.

    ” My children have been following the GFA race since I declared my intention to contest, they with other personalities have spoken to me not to contest and I have accepted their advice, ” he told Accra based Asempa FM today. He continued. “Isha Allah my eyes are now set on the executive committee where I think I will help in the decision-making process.

    Even with that, if I get the slot or otherwise, I will still thank God. I am not the only person who can turn the fortunes of the association.” Alhaji Gruzah further indicated that he has not declared his support for any of the aspiring candidates yet, but will do so after they have been vetted.

    ” For now I am not rushing to declare who I will support, those aspirants are all my sons and nephews. I will only declare my support for one of them after the vetting processes are over,” he explained. Alhaji Gruzah who has over 40 years of experience in the activities of Ghana Football underscored the need for the association to have a visionary leader to lift the image of the association from its current state to an appreciable one.

    Singer MzVee and record label Lynx Entertainment have ended their eight-year relationship. 

    After MzVee went off the grid and took a sabbatical from active music, there were rumors that her relationship with members at the label has gone sour.

    Others claimed the singer had gotten pregnant, went on a break to focus on herself and giving birth.

    However, in a press release signed by the ‘Daavi’ hitmaker, she only went on the “much-deserved break” to re-energize, get in touch with herself and redesign her artistic expression.

    Ghana has defied odds to beat Algeria 1-0 and qualify for their first-ever CAF U23 Cup of Nations finals. Captain Yaw Yeboah, who plays for Celta Vigo, scored the only goal to ensure the Black Meteors secured a 2-1 aggregate win.

    Transport fares to go up by 10%

    The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) says effective September 16, public transport fares will go up by 10 percent.

    Explaining the basis for the increment, the Union said the various components that go into the running of commercial transport services has gone up.

    “This is to accommodate predominantly an increase in fuel prices,” Kwame Kuma, the National Chairman of GPRTU said in a statement, Tuesday.
    For some time now, the Union has called for an increment in their fares as prices of spare parts have gone up.

    The increased fares will cover intra-city (trotro), intercity (long-distance ride) and shared taxis.

    Mr. Kuma advised all members of the Union to comply with the “new fares and post the fare list at the loading terminals so as to avoid any confrontation with the traveling public.”

    The last time fares were increased was in January 2018.

    The Ashanti Regional MTTD Deputy Commander, DSP Lydia Acheampong Ntow, revealed this to the general public that,  one thousand six hundred and fifty-four (1,654) accident case recorded in the middle of this year 2019 which case eighty-nine(89) people’s into dead.

    DSP Lydia Acheampong breakdown the huge recorded number of accident in two categories, one thousand six hundred and fifty-four (1,654) recorded at the middle of this year, eighty-nine(89) record dead in commercial vehicles and one thousand two hundred and sixty-six(1,266) involve in a serious injury.

    DSP Lydia made mention that, road accident is more dangerous than Ebola, so she is urging all drivers to stop that overtaking, over-speed and many others because they are the cause of all this.

    DSP Lydia Acheampong revealed this to the entire nation during the 2019 Awards lunch for Ghana Drivers and Road Safety.

    Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Director of Road Safety, Madam Simbiat Weridu also explains that nowadays drivers need to be honored and also adviced the entire nation on-road activities.

    Minister for Special Development Initiative who doubles as the member of parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency in the central region, Hon Mavis Naa Dede Koomson has assured that the NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa -Akuffo Addo has in ported 307 ambulances which will soon arrive in the country.

    According to the lawmaker, the aim of this government is to make sure that, all the constituency in Ghana will get an ambulance so sick people will not be stressed as they have experienced for years.

    Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson added that there is no government in the history of Ghana who was able to port such a huge number of ambulances into the country with the exception of this current NPP government. She made this statement during the launching of the NPP Pink ladies at kasoa chapter.

    In addition,  the minister Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson charge this young and energetic ladies who have come together to form this *NPP PINK LADIES,* they should work hard and make sure their aim for campaigning for NPP to retain power should come to pass.

    She added that teamwork, determination and hard work should be their main focus and by so doing NPP will win the Awutu Senya East with huge number of votes.
