The Psychiatric Nurse and Concern Citzen if Ghana, Bismarck Kpobi upon research discovered that Drug abuse has become a global phenomenon affecting almost every country though the extent and characteristics vary depending on the country in question.
Drug Abuse by the Youths
In an interview with Dikoder.com, he explained that, marijuana and alcohol have been identified as the major drugs of abuse among the youth in Ghana. These drugs are becoming more and more a public health concern and they represent one of the leading causes of preventable deaths , illnesses and injury.
According to the young Psychiatric Nurse, he said, the age of abuse of marijuana and alcohol is relatively low , 10-15 years and experimentation has been found to be the main reason for the start of the abuse. These two drugs in addition to cigarettes, Cocaine, and many pharmaceutical drugs of high heroine origin, either in one or combine( mixed) usage are really destroying lives and the country’s human resources and economy.
Drug Abuse by the Youth
“The course of the alarming rate of the abuse especially among the youth can be traced to the high unemployment among the youth, the frustration of highly qualified students not having access for further education, and the general economic situations in the country” …
“Ignorance, on the part of the victims, interpersonal relationship with families and peer pressure, Media , availability of the drugs, cost of the drugs, urbanisation, slum communities and some culture factors are the causes” he said.
Pening down notes Bismarck further raised another concern of a disease called aphrodisiac. He said, aphrodisiac works by stimulating nerve centres in the spine , thereby improving the capacity for erection without increasing Sexual excitement. These drugs, some call it herbal Viagra . Unfortunately, there are side effects to taking these herbs which include; anxiety, weakness, overstimulation, paralysis, and hallucinations depending on the type.
“Too much use of these Viagra puts much pressure on the internal organs of the male partner which in long round leads to many Illnesses . Normal Sexual intercourse doesn’t take much time , the emphasis should rather be on the satisfaction to be given the female partner . Overworking ourselves with drugs to impressing women cannot be exclusive of many youthful death among the youth especially the males he stated.
However, Government spending on substance abuse treatment is seen as an extra financial burden on an already strained budget.
Furthermore, drug addictions can threaten Civic safety, given that people under the influence of drugs may have a distorted view of the world around them and are prone to participating in improper behaviors such as armed robbery, domestic violence which is rampant these days on our communities. Such victims of substance abuse can become danger to the families, general public and the environment. Substance Abuse also increases the risks of spreading infectious diseases such as HIV AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis since these victims share blades ,needles and many other sharps .
Drug Abuse by the Youth
“The aforementioned outline should be of utmost priority to the government to saving our future leaders now before the youth die and leave their parents. Government should come out with rehabilitation centres to attending to such victims by reorientating them back to the community for productive works. Appreciable percentage of the MoH budget Should be pushed into Mental Health Psychiatry to taking care of such fast looming time bomb when not control now. All stakeholders who matter in ensuring moral values and proper upbringing of children should add their voices for government to taking needed steps in addressing substance Abuse in the country among the youth” he said.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral will be held on Saturday and confined entirely to Windsor Castle following an eight-minute ceremonial procession within the castle’s grounds, Buckingham Palace has said.
The arrangements, which “very much” reflect the duke’s wishes, have been adapted in light of the Covid pandemic. The Duke of Sussex will fly in from his home in the US to join other members of the Royal Family at the ceremony.
Earlier, royal gun salutes across the UK and at sea marked the duke’s death. There will be eight days of national mourning ahead of the televised funeral, which will be a ceremonial event rather than a large state affair usually associated with the death of a monarch.
Prince Philip will also not lie in state – where members of the public would have been able to view his coffin.
A period of national mourning began on Friday, with the announcement of the duke’s death, and will continue until after the funeral, the government has said. The Queen has decided that a two-week period of royal mourning will be observed by members of the royal family, who will continue to undertake appropriate engagements only, and will wear black mourning bands.
A palace spokesperson said: “Although the ceremonial arrangements are reduced, the occasion will still celebrate and recognise the duke’s life and his more than 70 years of service to the Queen, the UK and the Commonwealth.”
Philip lies at rest in the chapel at Windsor Castle. There will be no lying in state, which accords with his wishes. On Saturday 17 April, the coffin will be moved in a small ceremonial procession from the state entrance of Windsor Castle to St George’s Chapel for the service.
Coronavirus restrictions mean that the congregation will be a maximum of 30 mourners, including the Queen, members of the royal family, and the duke’s private secretary. The number excludes the bearer party and clergy.
At the conclusion, the duke will be interred in the royal vault in St George’s Chapel.
“While it is naturally a time of sadness and mourning for the royal family, and the many others who knew and admired the Duke of Edinburgh, it is hoped that the coming days will also be seen as an opportunity to celebrate a remarkable life – remarkable both in terms of his vast contribution and lasting legacy,” said the palace spokesperson.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has of course required us to make some adaptations to the original arrangements for His Royal Highness’s funeral; however, we are certain the occasion will be no less fitting a farewell to His Royal Highness, marking his significant duty and service to the nation and the Commonwealth.
“While there is sadness that the public will not physically be able to be part of the events to commemorate the duke, the royal family ask that anyone wishing to express their condolences do so in the safest way possible, and not by visiting Windsor or any other royal palaces to pay their respects.”
Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, father of Prince Charles and patriarch of a turbulent royal family that he sought to ensure would not be Britain’s last, died on Friday at Windsor Castle in England. He was 99.
His death was announced by Buckingham Palace, which said he passed away peacefully.
Philip had been hospitalized several times in recent years for various ailments, most recently in February, the palace said.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
He died just as Buckingham Palace was again in turmoil, this time over Oprah Winfrey’s explosive televised interview last month with Philip’s grandson Prince Harry and Harry’s biracial wife, Meghan. The couple, in self-imposed exile in California, lodged accusations of racism and cruelty against members of the royal family.
Philip was married to the queen for more than 70 years, Philip was a steady presence behind her at thousands of public events, becoming as familiar to the British people as the queen if not always as beloved.
Details regarding his funeral were not immediately released, but looking at feeds from air and on social media, Dikoder.com reports that the queen will sign off on final plans in the coming days, adding that the duke requested a royal ceremonial funeral rather than a state funeral.

The Branch communicator and Junior Comrade of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says that upon his research there has been surge in advocacy campaign activities for potential party executives at all levels, especially at National and Regional levels; which if care not taken will stagnate the reorganisational schedule the party will be undertaking.
According to him, many supporters daily are projecting their choices and in some cases hitting heads against one another, and also, denigrating their potential contenders on most political platforms, and most dangerously in the silence . This is already raising tensions since the current executives seeing one another as opponents than co-executives who are to plan and reorganize the party for formidable front for 2024 general election.
NDC Party Leadership Should Curtail Things Now
It is high time party leadership set some restrictive roles before we reach the uncontrollable state where suspicion, sabotages and undermining of one another will cause deep cracks in the party.
It is a known knowledge that when John Mahama is coming, no victory loving party members will contest him, but we should leave that to JM and party leadership to consider , that notwithstanding, some utterances should be curbed to avoid further cracks .
Bismark Kophi pointed out that, 2024 victory is highly possible and simple, but if we don’t control the over zealousness among we the supporters of various potential contestants at all party executives levels, will be the source of our impending doom.
“Those lacing their boots should do so in decorous manner if a must to do, and must control their support base from going personal on others . That nevertheless, we shall continue to boldly talk about certain behaviors of leaders which is undermining, populist and head knocking” he said.
NDC Party Leadership Should Curtail Things Now
In conclusion, let us all keep praying for the party leadership in this stormy moments of the great NDC, he pleaded to his fellow comrades. We shall overcome, God is our helper.
If care is not taken, soon people will be sacrificing parents, siblings and friends publicly to making monies through any available means.
The issues of two 16 years old boys murdering a boy of 10 years to doing money rituals should awake the government and the neccessary stakeholders concerned in preserving our morals and culture values in the country.
CLOSE DOWN MEDIA HOUSES
Daily advertisements of mallams, priests and juju people boasting of their powers to doubling monies and making luxuries for interesting victims must be clamped down now before our children and youth venture into such stuffs. We all know there is no money rituals without blood sacrifice before, during or after. Many vehicular accidents happening on our major roads cannot be isolated from such blood monies used to purchasing those vehicles hence the evil spirits hunting for bloods in returns.
I am calling on the government and the media committee in parliament to as a matter of urgency revoke the licenses of all those media stations who in their quest to making profits assist these juju men and women in advertising their activities.
CLOSE DOWN MEDIA HOUSES
How long will it take us before we come to our conscious state that such evil adverts and programs aiding the criminal activities happening all around us in Ghana?
Partners murdering their partners , children killing or denying their parents all because some evil demonic prophets or Juju men telling them their problems are from those people. If nothing at all, let us learn from the Tanzanian president late Paul Magufuli who sanitised their media activities to curb vices in his country.
CLOSE DOWN MEDIA HOUSES
The numerous mushrooms TV stations and radio stations into such activities must be worked on now before our future leaders all get destroyed because they looking for shortcut to making riches for living luxurious lifestyles.
How can normal youth of less than age 40 wants to live and drive vehicles people of above 40 years achieved?
Our churches too are part because they deviated from preaching morals and values by venturing into miracles and only prosperity messages and ignoring salvation messages of repentance and good character and name .
CLOSE DOWN MEDIA HOUSES
It is not too late now, government and communication and information Ministry must act now to saving the country Ghana from such evil news headlines .

The Speaker of parliament is mandated by law to constitute the Parliamentary Service Board(PSB) (council of elders for the house). Are we saying Speaker who is NDC should appoint Npp persons to serve as his advisors?
All the people at the Speaker’s office have been replaced with NDC people. From the security, Secretary etc.
The PSB is not Based on Governmental Decisions
So what is wrong when the party agreed to allow general to serve on the board to help the speaker and our minority leader to put measures in place to steering the affairs of NDC towards victory 2024?
Remember, party decision needs to be taken into consideration to help the board as well, so surely a party person must be appointed by the speaker to serve both national and NDC interest.
The PSB is not Based on Governmental Decisions
Let us keep praying for our leaders and JM and hoping for the best in coming months.
NB: The PSB is not an executive appointed (Government). So general and hon Haruna are not serving on the parliamentary service board as Nana Addo appointees.
I know how disappointed all of us are but party strategies can’t be discussed in the public domain so let calm down and see what our leadership has for us towards victory 2024.
The PSB is not Based on Governmental Decisions Thanks.
